Team HotChillee Infinity had lost a member with the Bull being laid low by an ill timed bout of pneumonia, and I was being asked to fill some rather large shoes!
Read More ...There is just something special about this event. The format, organisation and rider mix all playing a part, but The Cape Rouleur is more than just a sum of the parts. It is a fantastic event to be part of with an atmosphere second to none. Franschhoek can be proud to be chosen to host this event. Chatting to the organisers they would like more community involvement next year with local business benefiting from the spin-offs generated by an event of this magnitude. The race will definitely be bigger next year with more riders being allowed. Sven is a man with vision and this race will only go from strength to strength. Will I do it again? Stupid question.

I've just crossed the finish line of the Absa Cape Epic, a gruelling eight-day mountain bike race that saw me reach new highs and lows on a bike, and forced me to dig to the deepest parts both mentally and physically. It's also left me with a few bruises and an aversion to sand. But most importantly I have an overwhelming sense that, with my teammate Sven Thiele, we have conquered the world's toughest mountain bike race.

The first of HotChillee's multi-stage cycling events in its Global Event Series in 2014 will be held on 2nd to 6th March 2014 and places will be limited to 200. It is an early season event hosted in the spectacular cycling destination of Franschhoek, South Africa.
